Losing a parent is usually a devastating experience, regardless of age. While some people cope with sorrow more easily, others struggle for years to accept that their parent is no longer present.
One Reddit member recounted the passing of her mother and the events that followed.
This happened three years ago, and their father remarried only six months after the OP’s mother passed.
Although she was relieved that her father could move on, she and her younger sister, 16, found it difficult to comprehend that he chose to take on a new wife so quickly.
The new woman moved into their family house, which had previously belonged to OP’s late mother and was now left to OP, while her sister received the vacation home.
However, soon after their step-mom started living with them, she removed all of the photos of their mom and placed them all in OP’s sister’s room.
The 16-year-old had a hard time overcoming her mother’s loss, and the fact that her step-mom got pregnant with twins only made her more and more overwhelmed.
In the midst of the dilemma, the sister decided to organize a 16th birthday party so she could forget about her mother for a time. She had the party when her father and stepmother were on vacation.
The girl invited her pals, and they had a good time together, but a problem arose when the father and his pregnant wife got home earlier than intended the next morning and noticed there were so many youngsters.
The stepmother became enraged and demanded that the guests leave. Soon after, she began ranting, claiming that the house was not a party venue and that OP’s sister should not have hosted a party there, despite the fact that the father was aware of and agreed to his daughter’s celebration.
As the fight heated up, the stepmother kicked the 16-year-old out of the house and sent her to her aunt, unknowing that the property now belonged to OP.
When OP found out the next day, he was furious. She was enraged with her father for failing to protect his younger daughter and allowing his wife to kick her out of the house while she was still grieving.
OP urged her father and her seven-month pregnant stepmother to leave the house right now, no matter how difficult her decision appeared. She gave them a week to do it.
The father was caught by surprise, calling OP a spoiled brat and threatening to challenge her mother’s will.
OP, however, believed that her dad should never let his wife treat her younger sister like she did. She was mad he didn’t stood up for her, and Redditors said she had all the right to kick them out, assuring her she wasn’t in the wrong.
