The Queen is celebrating her 78th birthday today
A new photo of Queen Camilla has been released today as she celebrates her 78th birthday. Yet, cruel trolls have brutally taken aim at the wife of King Charles III in the comment section of the new official portrait.
The new snap was posted on 16 July on the Royal Family’s official social media accounts.
In the photograph, Camilla was all smiles. The Queen dressed up in a funky patterned shirt and gold glitzy earrings, posing in a field.
The caption alongside it read: “Ahead of Her Majesty’s 78th birthday tomorrow, a new picture of The Queen has been released by Buckingham Palace. The image was taken this month, in the garden at Raymill, Her Majesty’s private home in Wiltshire, by Chris Jackson.”
And though a lot of the replies were positive, wishing the Queen a happy birthday and sending messages of love, some cruel trolls took issue with one small detail.

The wording is what has raised eyebrows for some people, who seemingly found a problem with Camilla being called ‘the Queen’ rather than ‘Queen Consort’ in the caption of the post.
One Instagram user wrote: “*Queen Consort*,” while another added: “She is not the Queen to me and never will be.”
“That is not the Queen lol,” penned someone else, with a fourth adding: “She is not the queen and never will be!”
“When did it change from Queen Consort to just Queen?” questioned another.
To explain this, the Consort title was used up until the King’s coronation in order to eliminate any confusion over whether they were talking about Camilla or the late Queen Elizabeth II.
After Queen Elizabeth di.ed in 2022, the Consort title has been used less and Camilla is now just largely referred to as the Queen.
This is because, historically, the wives of sitting British monarchs have always taken the title Queen.

The confusion mostly stems from the fact that Camilla is not The King’s first wife, however, Camilla was granted the title of Queen Consort by the late Queen during the Platinum Jubilee in February 2022.
However, it’s important to note that there is still a difference between Queen Consorts and Regnants.
Queen Elizabeth II was a Queen Regnant as she was a a female monarch who reigned in her own right, while a Consort is a woman who marries the monarch.
But, like Camilla, other Queen Consorts have dropped the ‘Consort’ before their name, in the same way Queen Regnants do – make sense?
Among the hateful comments were of course others condemning them, as well as well wishes for Camilla’s birthday.
Someone wrote: ‘The comments… always disrespectful, such a shame.”
In the meantime, a second penned: “So many comments from people who watched the crown and don’t understand British history.”
“Happy Birthday. Well done with all the work you do with literacy , women and animals,” quipped someone else.
And another added: “Happy Birthday, Your Majesty. Lovely photo!”
