John and Mary rushed to the hospital to visit John’s father, who had been in a deep coma for six months.
The doctor shook his head sadly.
“I’m afraid there’s no hope. He may never wake up.”
John was devastated.
He sat beside the bed, grabbed his father’s hand, and started crying.
“Dad, please wake up! If you do, I’ll quit drinking, become a better husband, and finally get a real job!”
Suddenly…
The old man’s eyes flew open!
He sat straight up and looked around the room like he’d just been dropped onto another planet.
John and Mary screamed with joy.
“It’s a miracle! Dad’s awake!”
But the old man looked absolutely terrified.
“WHERE AM I?! WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE?!”
John blinked.
“Dad, it’s me! Your son, John! And this is Mary, your daughter-in-law!”
The old man stared at them in horror.
“MY WHAT?!”
He glanced toward the window, spotted his reflection, then frantically grabbed his phone.
“Help! Security! Emergency!”
John tried to calm him down.
“Dad, it’s okay! You’ve been in a coma for six months!”
The old man froze.
“Six months?!”
He looked at John.
Then at Mary.
Then back at John.
“I came here for a routine procedure!”
He shook his head in disbelief.
“How did I wake up with a wife, a son, and a family full of problems?!”
John slowly lowered his head.
The old man pointed at him.
“And apparently… YOU’RE the biggest one!”
