A Georgia Chick-fil-A employee is being hailed a hero after he jumped out of the drive-thru window to save a boy who was choking inside a nearby car.
Teenager Logan Simmons, of Hall County, Georgia, was working the Flowery Branch Chick-fil-A’s drive-thru window on Wednesday when a woman pulled up in her car saying that her six-year-old son was choking on his seat belt.
Surveillance video, obtained by WSBTV, shows the moment Simmons leaps out of the drive-thru window and runs off to help the struggling child.
Just outside the restaurant, the teen noticed a mom begging for help after her son’s seatbelt ended up tangled around his neck.
I just jumped out the window and ran straight down to the car,” said Logan. “I think it was the quickest option. It was right there and I saw the other car right there.”
The quick-thinking teen whipped out his pocketknife and cut the choking child free from the seatbelt, averting serious tragedy.
Additional footage from the drive-thru line, obtained by Fox News, appears to show Simmons inside the woman’s car as she stands outside the open door. After a few moments, Simmons exits the car and heads back towards the restaurant while the woman gets into the driver’s seat.
“I’m amazed he didn’t panic. As his mother, I would have panicked. I’d be running around going, ‘Oh my gosh! What do we do?’” Teri Simmons said.
An hour later, the little boy’s mother called Logan Simmons and thanked him for saving her son’s life.
Simmons’ mother, Teri Simmons, said that when her son returned home from work that day, he didn’t make a big deal out of his heroics, instead waited a few hours before revealing that he saved the child’s life.
