Father’s Final Wish Comes True, Takes Daughter Down The Aisle
Pedro Villarin, 65, was bedridden after a year of fighting advanced illness, but his last wish was to walk his daughter Charlotte Villarin down the aisle for their wedding.
The plan was for Mr. Villarin to walk his daughter down the aisle in a wheelchair, but he was not strong enough, so they used the ambulance stretcher.
The family hired an ambulance and a private nurse to take him to the ceremony in Las Pinas City, part of the National Capital Region of the Philippines, Metro Manila.
We hired an ambulance and a private nurse. We thought he could sit in a wheelchair, but he couldn’t take it and used the ambulance stretcher instead.
But he really sacrificed himself because he felt pain at that moment. And we thank God for allowing that to happen.’
Newlywed Charlotte said, ‘This was really an emotional moment. My father’s only wish was to see his daughter married and we made it a reality for him.
‘It made the day very bittersweet. It hurt me to know that he was leaving us, but I was happy that he was there. I’m glad he got to see me get married.”
Wedding photographer Law Tapalla said, “Pedro Villarin walked his daughter down the aisle as any father would have done, even if his health made it a difficult endeavor.”
Charlotte later revealed the sad news that her father passed away just days after the ceremony.
Said Ms. Villarin, “This wedding was really for him because he wanted to walk down the aisle with me and witness my marriage, since, according to him, I was his favorite daughter.”
She shared this final image from her wedding with the statement “Papu, I love you so much.”
