Granddaughter Asks All Four Grandmothers To Stand In As Flower Girls For Her Wedding
Having grandparents to share your wedding day is something very special. However, one newlywed couple, Tanner and Lyndsey, were lucky enough to have four members of their extended family not only present but part of the ceremony itself.
Lyndsey Raby and her fiancé Tanner Raby were married on September 22 in Benton, Tennessee, and knew that just having their grandmothers present was special. They wanted to include their grandparents in this momentous day, but not just as another face in the pews.
Lyndsey asked her four grandmothers to stand up for her on her special day by walking as flower girls in the wedding.
This was a job usually reserved for the smaller nieces and cousins. A flower girl is usually the youngest person in the wedding party and precedes the bride down the aisle. It’s a bit of a mess, but it’s also kind of a tradition. Could Grandma fill those tiny shoes? All four immediately said yes.
Adorable photos showed the bride with her four grandmothers on her special day, and the women all matched in a blue sequin dress with matching jackets.
The flower girls included Lyndsey’s great-grandmother, Kathleen Brown, 90; the bride’s grandmother, Wanda Grant, 76; the bride’s grandmother, Betty Brown, 72; and the groom’s grandmother, Joyce Raby, 70.
To accessorize their light blue dresses, all four grandmothers carried a white wooden box to hold the flower petals they dropped as they walked down the aisle.
Each of the boxes included a blue bow tied on the handle with “Here Comes The Bride” painted in beautiful script on the front in blue paint.
“I’m so lucky,” Lyndsey, 24, told Today Style. “A lot of women don’t get one grandparent at their wedding and I was blessed to have all of them.”
“They’re all besties now and talking on Facebook,” the newlywed said. “Family is the most important thing to all of us.”
Photographer Natalie Caho first shared the image of Lyndsey surrounded by her grandmothers on her wedding day on her company’s Instagram page.
She wrote in her caption: ‘I’ve seen a lot of cute flower girls in my day…but these four gals take the cake.’
The photo caught the attention of the public who all enjoyed witnessing this heartfelt family moment.
Most people agreed that the photos between Lyndsey and her four grandmothers were “heartwarming” and that it was a “unique” moment between these women.
Lyndsey now hopes that these viral wedding photos will encourage other brides and grooms to include their grandparents in their own special day
