It’s a wonderful break from the never-ending stream of bad news to hear a moving story that serves as a reminder of people’s kindness and generosity. Many people have been moved by Helen Lupton’s excellent Facebook message.
Helen had gone to the Pleasureland Amusements arcade in Whitby, Yorkshire, with her son Blake. It was a beautiful day filled with laughter. When they returned home, they discovered that Blake’s cherished purple sloth toy, Slothy, had been abandoned.
Helen, distraught, messaged the location, hoping to find the misplaced toy. Nonetheless, the personnel informed her that no items had been turned in to lost and found. Blake was distraught because it seemed like there was no hope left.
Helen was determined to make things right, so she searched for a replacement toy but was unable. Then she received a message from Pleasureland Amusements out of the blue. Slothy had been located!
Helen was overjoyed to tell Blake the wonderful news, and his face lit up with delight. She asked if they could return Slothy to them because they were not local. After the staff gladly accepted, a parcel arrived a few days later.
There were several heartwarming surprises in the gift. In addition to Slothy, there were three packages of candy and two new toys. “Hello, we thought Pablo (as we called him before we knew he was Slothy) would get scared during his journey, so we sent him with a friend and some snacks to share with you when he got back home safe and sound,” stated a touching note included in the package. We gave him a fidget pop to keep him from becoming bored. I hope Pablo, alias Slothy, remains safe in the future.
Helen shared the photos on Facebook after being struck by the care and consideration demonstrated by the Pleasureland personnel. She expressed gratitude for the reminder that there are still good, honest, and friendly people in the world, and encouraged others to visit the Whitby arcade.
Many others read the piece straight away, and hundreds more comments followed. Several others had an emotional reaction to the story—one even stated it made them cry. Pleasureland personnel received a lot of appreciation, with one reader giving them “five gold stars.”
