Animal lover wins $4 million from lotto scratch-off—and donates to local shelter

What would you do if you had won the lottery? Many of us have big aspirations about how we would spend it, such as buying a new house or a car.

However, when an animal-loving Massachusetts man won millions on a scratch-off, one of his first activities was to donate to pets in need.

Paul Riley of Peabody, Massachusetts, purchased a Massachusetts State Lottery “100X Cash” fast ticket game from a local retailer. According to a news release, he scratched it off and was surprised to learn that he had won the game’s $4 million prize.

Described as “an animal lover,” Paul arrived with his tiny puppy Raven to accept his prize:

When asked what he meant to do with his newfound wealth, he gave a generous response, stating that a portion of his money would be donated to the Animal Rescue League.

It’s always encouraging to watch someone use their wealth so selflessly, especially when it comes to assisting animals in need. Of course, Paul plans to spend a lot of money on himself and his family, including buying a new car for his wife.

According to the release, Paul received a one-time payment of $2,600,000 before taxes. Summit Variety, the store where he purchased the winning scratch-off, will also earn a $40,000 prize.

Congratulations to Paul on his incredible lottery victory, and thank you for deciding to give back by helping shelter animals! ❤️🐾
