A young priest was newly assigned to a parish. To test his focus, a beautiful woman in the neighborhood decided to wear a very short, glamorous dress to the confessional.
When she sat down, her dress rode up, revealing her long legs. The young priest caught a glimpse, immediately looked up at the ceiling, and began praying fervently under his breath.
After the service, the young priest went to see the old, retired priest for advice: “Father, there was a very attractive penitent today. I had a really hard time keeping my eyes off her. How did you manage to stay so pure in the face of such temptations all these years?”
The old priest patted the young man on the shoulder and smiled: “It’s simple, my son. Just attach a small mirror to the side of the confessional booth. Whenever you feel tempted by beauty, look into the mirror.”
The young priest’s eyes lit up: “Oh, so I can see my own holy reflection and wake up from the temptation?”
The old priest shook his head: “No, so you can see your own bald head and wrinkles, and remind yourself that you are way too old to be fooling around!”
