I Refused to Make Separate Meals for My Stepdaughter — Now Everyone’s Against Me

My husband’s ex-wife is introducing their 12-year-old daughter to veganism.

In our house, we’re used to eating a lot of meat, but I won’t interfere if my stepdaughter’s mom has made that decision for her daughter.

However, things took an unexpected turn when she sent me a list of strict meals to prepare for my stepdaughter every day she’s staying with us.

I refused, saying that it was too much extra work for me. I suggested that if her mother insists, she can make the dishes herself and send them to our place.

My husband didn’t like the idea, saying that his daughter deserves to eat fresh, home-cooked meals just like the rest of us.

He added, “Well, when it comes to your son, Jack, you never complain about making separate dishes for him every day, do you?”

He continued, “So stop acting like you’re the victim here when you have been doing the same for your own son for years.”

I got furious and said that Jack’s case was totally different.

My son Jack has a serious food allergy, and there are specific ingredients he can’t eat; otherwise, he’ll get seriously sick.

But his stepdaughter isn’t compelled to be a vegan.

What should I do?
