Jennifer Love Hewitt did not hold back in her response to trolls who accused her of being “fake” in a selfie she posted on social media earlier this month.
According to reports, the Ghost Whisperer actress was featured in an Instagram image shared by her hairstylist Nikki Lee, and some online users wasted no time calling her out for her altered appearance.
Jennifer had trimmed her hair into a bob and colored it a deep, rich brown. Her stylist captioned the photo, “Was time to spice things up.”
As is common when a celebrity alters their appearance, admirers of the 44-year-old were ready to leave comments. Many of them were kind, but some tried to demean Love Hewitt by claiming that she had undergone cosmetic surgery.
Some described the actress, who rose to prominence after acting in I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), as “unrecognizable”.
Now, while it’s usually standard practice for celebs to simply ignore their critics and naysayers in such circumstances, Love Hewitt decided to hit back at her detractors by posting a series of photos that played on the idea that she had changed her look via some sort of surgery.
“So many people said I look different”, the actress wrote.
“I look the same as always. Couldn’t look more natural. I woke up like this. Filters don’t change you that much.”
Needless to say, the cheeky photos had a variety of filters applied to Hewitt’s face. The actress urged people to be courteous when commenting on other people’s images, no matter how exaggerated they were.
She finished her post with: “Let people be filtered or unfiltered. Be good. Be kind. Spread love.”
Earlier this year, Love Hewitt’s appearance was scrutinized after she posted a picture to mark her 44th birthday.
“Woke up at 4am and was 44! I am deeply grateful, blessed, happy, sometimes insecure about aging, a mom of three incredible babies, married to the most handsome and awesome man, and really excited to see what this year has for us,” her post read.
