Reportedly, the entrepreneur named Courtney Lee Johnson, tweeted a picture of a man who decided to stand in the aircraft while his wife reclined across three seats for 6 hours. This person captioned it, “This guy stood up the whole six hours so his wife could sleep. Now that is love.”
It can be seen from the picture that a middle-aged man who is standing in the aisle supporting himself by holding on to the seats. On the other hand, his wife seemed fast asleep on the seat. The tweet immediately went viral, and garnered thousands of likes and retweets. However, hundreds of people who commented on the tweet were divided.
Some users critically analyzed the picture and these debated whether it should be seen as an act of selfishness or selflessness.
Some agreed with the Johnson interpretation, but others were fast to label it toxic and selfish. One woman wrote: “I can’t let my man stand for even 10 minutes. I’d definitely be sleeping on his laps which would even be more comfortable. Or rest properly on the chair. Why would you let your man stand for 6 hours?” while another tweeted, “Not love but exploitation. She could have just rested her head on his lap. Very inconsiderate.”
However, there were some people thought it could be justified if the woman was unwell. One said: “Unless she’s sick and this is the only rest position within the circumstance that will make her stay alive. If not, its total bullshit!!!”.
