More than 350 people are rescuing a 10-year-old boy who fell into a 35-meter concrete cylinder

More than 350 people are trying to rescue a 10-year-old boy who fell into a 35-meter concrete cylinder in Dong Thap province, Vietnam. The leader of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee also came to the scene to direct the rescue work.

According to the latest reports, in 31 December, 2022, at around 11:30 a.m, a 10-year-old boy named Thai Ly Hao Nam and 3 of his friends entered a bridge construction site located in Phu Loi Commune to get some pieces of iron. While Nam was walking, he fell into the hollow concrete pillar that was 25 centimeters in diameter, where he was trapped. At that time, his friends called for help. The neighboring people came to save Nam but failed. At first, they still heard Nam’s voice calling for help, but then it was gone.

The situation is “critical” and all rescue forces are asked to save the boy. Innitially, the rescue team used an excavator to remove the ground around the pillar to make it wider to pull out the pillar. At the same time, oxygen was also pumped into the pillar. Moreover, water was used to soften the ground around the pillar.

Thai Van Tan Tai, Nam’s father, said Nam often played around the neighborhood. When he heard the news that his child had fallen into the accident, he panicked and rushed to the scene but he only heard the crying for help in the hole. About 10 minutes later, he heard nothing more.

The rescue forces spent the night trying to save the boy, but still could not reach the victim. It’s difficult to determine if the boy is alive.

Oxygen is transported to the scene

Up to now, it is estimated that there are over 350 people including the leaders of local authorities, rescue forces, the army, police and the neighboring residents participated in the rescue work. But unfortunately, they haven’t been possible to reach the boy yet.

The rescue forces are still trying their best in hope of rescuing the boy.
