Single gay dad adopts baby girl with dσwn sчndrσmє who was rejected by her mom and 20 adoptive families
Luca Trapanese – a 41-year-old Italian single man – adopted Alba when she was just 13 days old. The girl has Down’s Syndrome and was given up for adoption by her mother because of it.
Finding a new family for baby Alba was not easy – 20 families rejected the newborn because of her condition.
But, luckily, Luca came along and Alba’s life changed forever.
‘When I first held her in my arms, I was overcome with joy. I felt she was my daughter straight away,’ he told about the moment they first met, after Alba’s mother gave her up because she had Down’s syndrome.
Luca himself had worked in a number of care centres for people with special needs and always wanted to become a father. His passion for helping others started when he was 14, after losing his best friend to ¢αи¢єя.
He volunteered for organisations linked to the Catholic church, often helping people who were seriously ill or disabled.
This is why, despite not having a partner, he decided to go ahead with the adoption of Alba, who now enjoys a happy home with her father.
Luca says that, as a single gay man, he was told by social services that he could only adopt a child with special needs or behavioural problems.
In July 2017, he got the call he had been waiting for so long – it was the court that informed him of a baby girl. Luca heard his story and, without any hesitation, immediately said yes and rushed to the hospital to meet his daughter.
“It was the first time I held a newborn baby. Before that moment, I had always been scared. But, when I first held Alba, I knew I was ready to be her dad,” said the young father.
Luca revealed he’s proud to be Alba’s father and adopting her has given him a sense of fulfillment.
It’s been a few years since Luca and Alba went viral for their beautiful relationship. However, fans can still follow their journey and daily life on Luca’s Instagram – he has over 320 000 followers.
He said: ‘She brought me happiness and a sense of fulfillment. I am proud to be her dad. I wanted her to be my daughter.’
The couple loves to go for walks, and they fill their days with lots of fun.
