The 14-year-old who went missing on a European cruise has been found.

A cruise has everything one could possible need onboard and is a fantastic way to visit multiple destinations in one trip. However, travel always involves risks and potential hazards. For example, a 14-year-old American boy spent his vacation in Europe with his grandmother. However, he did not return to the ship after a stop in Germany. He was finally discovered, but his absence served as a reminder to others to travel safely.

Aydin Brown, a 14-year-old American, traveled to Europe with his grandmother. Aydin’s mother had given the newlyweds a 12-day cruise on a Caribbean Princess ship as a gift. The expedition started on June 30 in Southampton, England. They’d make a few stops along the route, including Copenhagen and Stockholm. However, Aydin disappeared when the cruise ship docked in Germany on July 4th. He was last seen leaving the cruise liner about 7 a.m. that day.

The adolescent and his grandmother went their separate ways to explore Rostock-Warnemünde, the port where the cruise ship had tied. Following his disappearance, he was shown on surveillance video interacting with an unidentified male. According German authorities, the two were also observed 45 minutes later heading to Warnemünde church square. As a result, his mother traveled in with Princess Cruise Line.

Meanwhile, after learning of Aydin’s absence, his grandmother left the ship to be nearby. Aydin was located about 120 miles away from the harbor on Saturday night, around 10 p.m. The teen allegedly intended to meet with a 19-year-old, but police discovered no “evidence of a criminal offense.” He is safe and has been reunited with his family. “We are delighted that Aydin Brown has been found safe and sound,” Princess Cruises stated.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to German authorities for their swift response and exceptional efforts in locating Aydin after he disembarked in Warnemünde last Thursday morning.” Although Aydin Brown’s story ended happily, not everyone who goes missing on a vacation is found. Unfortunately, many missing persons have been investigated but never found. While cruise ships and other modes of transportation are meant to be entertaining, they can be hazardous if not handled properly.
