A man was walking along a quiet country road when he spotted a farmer working in his field.
He called out,
“Excuse me! How long will it take me to reach the next town?”
The farmer said absolutely nothing.
The man waited.
Still nothing.
Assuming the farmer hadn’t heard him, he shrugged and continued walking.
After about 100 meters, the farmer suddenly shouted,
“About 20 minutes!”
The man stopped and looked back.
“Thanks! But why didn’t you tell me that when I first asked?”
The farmer calmly replied,
“Well…”
“I didn’t know how fast you could walk!”
The man nodded.
“Fair enough.”
The farmer went back to work.
Apparently, even directions come with a speed test in the countryside!
