It was obvious something was bothering Little Johnny.
Normally the loudest kid in class, he sat quietly at his desk, staring out the window.
His teacher walked over with a concerned smile.
“Johnny, what’s wrong today?”
Johnny sighed.
“My mom’s at the hospital…”
He paused.
“…and my dad’s at the police station.”
The teacher’s heart sank.
“Oh, sweetheart… I’m so sorry.”
“Would you like to go home?”
Johnny nodded.
“Yes, please.”
The teacher arranged for him to leave early.
After Johnny was gone, she turned to the class and asked,
“Does anyone know what happened?”
One little boy raised his hand.
“I do, Miss.”
The teacher braced herself for bad news.
Instead, the boy smiled and said,
“Johnny’s dad is a police officer…”
“…and his mom is a nurse.”
The teacher blinked…
Then realized she’d jumped to the worst possible conclusion. 😂🤣
