Things appear to be heating up in a controversy, and the object of discussion this time is Planet Fitness. A dissatisfied member’s video has gone viral, causing the fitness class business to face criticism.
A woman in Alaska shared a photo of a transgender woman in the women’s locker room at the Fairbanks facility. She accused the corporation of allowing’men’ into an area that seemed to be reserved only for cisgender women.
The original picture appeared to show a transgender lady shaving over a sink in a locker room. The woman who snapped the photo went on to scream and shout in a video about how furious she was. The video went viral and sparked a huge controversy.
As a result, the local Planet Fitness withdrew her membership, leaving the transgender person she photographed alone. Planet Fitness also reaffirmed its decision, stating that its policy permits people with specific gender identities to use whichever secured area they feel fit.
Having said that, they stated that users cannot behave in dishonest faith or their memberships will be canceled.
However, it appears that fresh images of the trans lady that was previously photographed are circulating when she visits the gym’s locker area. People on the conservative side of politics have encouraged others to cancel their Planet Fitness memberships countrywide.
This appears to have had a significant impact, since Planet Fitness’ stock price has fallen sharply. The market value has also plunged, with equities falling from $66 to around $56 in just 12 days.
